Proven Character

Hey guys! I hope your having an awesome weekend so far. I am looking forward to our services at Breakthrough this evening and in the morning. God is doing some AMAZING things!!

So I just want to take a few moments to continue our discussion on character that we started on Thursday evening. Remember we talked about the fact that we not only want highly talented and skilled artists but deeply spiritual as well? We know that we cant expect to get by on talent alone so it is vital that we continue to grow in character and in our relationship with God.

We asked the questions:
Who are you when no one is looking?
Who are you when you're not on stage or in the spotlight?
Who are you really?

It is so important that as leaders in the Kingdom, we are people of PROVEN CHARACTER.

Do we have a clear conscience about how we're living our lives? Are we honest people? Are we dealing with the sin in our lives or are we hiding it? Are we accountable to each other concerning our sin? I think these are important questions that we should be asking ourselves on a very regular basis. It is so important that we are living AUTHENTIC lives as followers of Christ. The bible refers to AUTHENTICITY as living a life of truth in our "innermost being" (Psalm 51:6) and living a life of "Godly sincerity" (2 Cor. 1:12). We should be living what we are singing, writing, and preaching about. People will not listen to what we say until they have watched what we do and have found consistency. More importantly, God will not listen to our empty songs of praise no matter how beautiful and creative they are if our hearts are not right before Him. God hates hypocrisy. In Amos 5:23 the Lord literally gets fed up with the hypocrisy of His people, and their "fake" worship. He says "away with the NOISE of your songs; I will not listen to the music of your harps." God desires honesty. He wants us to be who we say we are. He wants us to people of PROVEN CHARACTER.

I want to chalenge you to step out from behind your talent and realy examine your inner man. Who are you? Is your heart on fire for Christ, or are you just going through the motions?

"Lord, please change us to truly be like you and to be who you want us to be."
